The new website has arrived

May 30, 2010

Finally! The new website is up and running. In the beginning of February we will also launch our new community. Finally!

It's been a long time coming but now the new website is up. In the beginning of February we will also launch our public API and at roughly the same time the new community.

The goal with the new website is to show what we actually do. Since early 2008 JayCut has been primarily a business-to-business company, licensing the video editing technology to other webpages. The community has stayed around since we on one hand like you guys, on the other like all feedback on how we can improve (which we then can incorporate into our business offerings). And that's how it will stay.

In fact, the community that we are soon about to launch is a brand new version, meant as a treat to all the users. We hope you will like it, but the massive changes are bound to result in some dislike as well. The new comm unity will be much more focused on the editing rather than being your average video sharing site. In fact, it won't even be possible to just upload and show raw videos and photos anymore. JayCut is all about video editing and that's what we want to encourage. If you simply want to share raw videos I've heard there is a site called Youtube :). I'm however convinced those who want to edit will find it to be a better website.

In short, the most major changes are:
  • Brand new editor, greatly improved!
  • All raw media is only used for editing
  • No more friends or groups
  • Greatly enhanced export, including download to several formats and automatic Youtube export
Looking past the community our hope is that our business focus will be much more clear now. We hope every website owner easily can see the benefits of having their own editor, offered to their end users.

On a final note this blog will be used to try out new ideas which is why I really want to encourage feedback. Good or bad, all comments are welcome as long as they are constructive. And if you're lucky we may give away a free business license for the especially good ideas :)

Best regards,
Jonas

Considering I never saw the old one I'd have to say that this is a marked improvement. Really are just taking a good thing and making it better.
Congratulations team, keep up the good work!

Rick.

I can't seem to access ANYTHING on the 'Create Movie' page.
Is there some sort of delay going on?

Hi Jonas Love your video editing system. I am a teacher and looking for free online apps so my students can make digital stories online. I have one problem There seems to be no track for audio? Unless I'm not seeing it?
I know I can add audio but it's hard to edit it with no sep track?
Thanks
