JayCut joins Research In Motion!
Oh what an exciting day! Today I can share the news that JayCut has just become a part of Research In Motion (RIM), creators of BlackBerry® smartphones, BlackBerry® PlayBook™ and a lot of other cool products. Now we’re joining forces to share what we do best: video editing.
We are a small group of passionate individuals that highly value our creative freedom, and we want to keep it that way. After spending time with RIM’s CEO Mike Lazaridis as well as the founders of The Astonishing Tribe, an amazing group of creative individuals that was acquired by RIM in January, I could see that we would fit in well with them.
The value proposition for my team and me was simply awesome: we can stay creative and we get to focus solely on developing great video editing tools, which has the potential to be used by many millions of users. Finally, we come into a context where our expertise is both valued and wanted.
So what will happen now? Well, even though I would love to tell you about all the brand new stuff we’re working on with RIM, you know I can’t. :) There are still many decisions to be made, but what is certain is that you’ll soon see some really cool and creative stuff coming out of this now established Stockholm enclave of RIM.
We have a new ally and hereby challenge the future of video editing to be more awesome. Stay tuned!
Cheers,
Jonas, CEO (or so they say)
PS. Don’t miss out on RIM’s own comments on this! Check it out here. DS.
